I think it’s wonderful how we can all look up just about anything online and find the answer to our questions, but, or should I say BUT, there are times when you absolutely should not do a self-diagnosis and I think in your husband’s case this is one of those times. Perhaps he was hyperventilating, and I hope that’s exactly what happened. But there’s no way for him to tell whether what happened was hyperventilating or something more serious. So don’t bury your heads in the sand, but instead make an appointment for him to get a physical today, and when he goes, he must tell the doctor what happened. If by some chance this was a symptom of something more serious, it could end up saving his life if he gets it checked out. On the other hand, if you decide that you can diagnosis what happened based on what you read on the computer, then you’re taking a big risk, and the next time it happens, the consequences could be a lot more serious.

And let me add another dimension to this, from the sex therapist’s point of view. I’m willing to bet that the next time you have sex, your husband is going to be worried about this. And whatever information you found on the Web, in the back of his mind he’s going to be thinking, “What if it was my heart?”  At the very least, that’s going to lessen his pleasure. It could cause him to have erectile difficulties. And in the long run, it might even make him want to avoid having sex altogether.  So you see, there are two reasons for him to go for a check-up, for the sake of his health and your sex life.
