Internet or Books: Which is Better for Sex Ed?
ImageI have a young son and it's time for "the talk". I was hoping to find an interactive website that I could use to help facilitate our talk, but can't seem to find anything. I'd hate to have to use the "Where Did I Come From" book like my parents used with me (this is the Internet Age for crying out loud!) but I've hit a brick wall. Any suggestions?

ImageSorry but I’m going to have to disagree with you. I don’t know how “young” your son is, but while I know at some point he’s going to discover all the sexual material that’s available on the web, why should you be the one to introduce him into making the connection between computers and sex. (And if you have a filter on your computer, then it won’t let you access even a children friendly site, assuming there is such a thing, if words like penis and vagina are on it.) So I think a book, whichever one you choose, is much better. It’s easier to look at a book together, and he can take it into his room and read it privately as well. Also, if you look at all the books, you can find the one that you like best, and you’ll know that you approve of all the material, while a website is likely to have much more to explore and so be more likely to have content that you don’t find appropriate. So maybe I’m old-fashioned, but for this discussion, I think a book works best.
