Was it Just First Time Jitters? |
I recently engaged in sex for the first time.
It was with a girl I really like here at college. The only problem was
that I had a difficult time getting aroused, and when I finally was (30
minutes later and with some help) I got about half way inside her and
then I came within about 5 seconds. I'll admit I was REALLY nervous, I
have often dreamt that I would be really quick. It had seemed as
though my worst nightmares came true and I was mortified as all hell.
She was very nice about it and we even cuddled before falling sleep
together. What is considered "average" for a guy to last during
intercourse? How do I know if this was just a "first time" worry
thing? What are some healthy ways to increase my stamina?
I think what happened to you is fairly typical for young men having sex for the first time. You were very nervous, which is why you had problems getting an erection, and then you were also over-excited, and so you ejaculated very quickly. I am fairly confident that you’ll get over the first problem easily. Whether or not you can overcome premature ejaculation as easily is to be determined. One thing that might cause you difficulty is that it sounds like the young lady is not an actual girlfriend, so you might feel the need to impress her when having sex, and that, in turn, will put more pressure on you and so make it more difficult. If you were really close, it would be easier for you to slow down the process and learn to recognize the signs of when you were about to ejaculate and then learn to pull back from the brink. In other words, practice developing the control you need. But as I said, it’s hard to practice on someone whom you want to impress.
I would suggest that you get yourself a book that describes what needs to be done to cure premature ejaculation. If you understand the entire process, it might help you to overcome this before it does become a problem. I’m not saying it automatically will, but sometimes an ounce of precaution can save you a lot of trouble down the road.
