Both men and women produce fewer sex hormones as they age, but men don’t go through as dramatic a change as women do when they stop having their menstrual periods. One of the two major female hormones, progesterone, is secreted by the egg sac, the follicle, after she has released an egg. Once a woman has reached menopause, she no longer has any viable eggs and this process ceases entirely. The decline in the production of male sex hormones is much more gradual so while there is a change, you can’t place a marker on it the way menopause does in women.
