Is he getting cold feet?

Hello Dr. Ruth. I have been dating a guy from FL for over six months. In the past two months, we have gotten really committed to each other. He decided to relocate to try to be with me.

He told his boss that he would stay until the end of January out of respect and to help finish the job that they are working on at this time. Well that was all good to me, but lately, since he gave me a date of his moving, he has been really cold and distant when I tell him how I am feeling. He says I am bitching and just analyzing everything. He barely talks to me and when he does, it is all about work and that is it. We used to talk about everything. Now it is nothing but fighting.  Is he getting cold feet and just does not want to say anything? Maybe he figures if he is mean, I will just break it off.

ImageIt’s impossible for me to know, but it doesn’t sound good. Your cold feet theory makes sense, but there’s no way of knowing without asking him. By the time I’m answering this, you may already know the answer (and let me know), but what I would suggest in such situations is not to wait to find out, but to just ask him. Say “It appears that you don’t really want to make this move. If that’s so, just tell me.” You might not like the answer, but the sooner you have it, the sooner the torture of not knowing will end.
