July 10, 2009 - Sexy Summer Toes

Image If I asked you what the sexiest parts of the body are, what would you say? Kissable lips? Luscious eyelashes? Well, what about perfect toes? It might not be your first answer – but during these hot months, it should be!

You can give yourself a spa-worthy pedicure right at home, with things you can find in any drug store. It's easy, you'll feel pampered and, best of all, your feet will look incredibly sexy afterward. (Guys, this goes for you, too!)

Here's how to do it. First, remove any old nail polish. Use toenail clippers to clip your toenails straight across. Use a nail file to shape them into smooth square shape, which prevents ingrown toenails. Soak your feet for 20 minutes in lukewarm water and Epsom salts. Then, gently push back your cuticles with an orange cuticle stick. Use a pumice stone to smooth away rough spots on the bottom of your feet.

And now my favorite part: the foot scrub. You can buy a foot scrub, but you can also make your own by mixing ¼ cup of ground oatmeal with ¼ cup of cornmeal and 1 tbsp. of salt. Add water to make a paste. Now massage your foot scrub onto your feet, let dry for 15 minutes, then rinse off. Finally, massage foot cream onto your feet. (Foot scrub recipe via Suite101.com.)

Now it’s time to apply your polish. But before you do, here’s a trick: try wiping each nail with nail polish remover. This removes oil on the nail and makes it easier for the polish to stick, which means your pedicure will last longer. Apply a thin layer of base coat followed by two thin layers of polish. Finally, apply a layer of glossy topcoat. Give it at least 30 minutes to dry.

That’s all it takes to have gorgeous feet! This weekend, skip the spa and spend the money you've saved on a pair of stunning sandals that show off your sexy new toes!
